Frequently Asked Questions

Will I get wet?

Yes after a 3 hour classroom session you will spend time in a pool facility.

Are your courses for fixed wing aircraft? Or helicopters?

Both. We can tailor our course to the participants' needs.

Are the water simulations done locally?

At our Victoria aquatic facility and all across Canada as they are totally portable.

Do I need a bathing suit? Footwear?

For realism we suggest wearing what ever you might normally wear when flying in aircraft including pool friendly footwear.

How long is the course?

AES SAFE training courses are a one day intensive training experience where you will be briefed in dunking procedures and in-depth related material for 3 hours in a classroom environment. Followed by actual lifelike simulations of an aircraft ditching in a warm, safe, controlled pool.

Do I have to be a strong swimmer?

Your ability and comfort level in water are dealt with in an individual manor. We are able to humble the boldest students and build confidence over time with people who are very uncomfortable in water.

How often are courses offered?

Our one day Egress Training is based on student enrolment all over Canada plus at Victoria BC our home base to a maximum of 12.

Do you teach any other courses?

Yes!  Bryan has extensive flying experience, and offers one-on-one training on a variety of topics, including tail dragger transitions, and float flying techniques. For more information, check out the Other Training page on our site...
